The style ofa webpage mainly depends on the design and colors ofthe host page, as well as the combination ofimages and characters, etc. [2] Designer of a host page should be high qualified and good at arts in order to accomplish an excellent design of a webpage. Color design is the soul of a webpage design on account of its ability to attract users’ first glance.

The corresponding relation between color and emotion becomes one of the very points requiring consideration [3]. The main colors of a webpage should embody the subject of a website, whose color tendency should be in accordance with the browsers’ aesthetic needs to meet their emotional needs. Colors have to highlight the browser-oriented design conception. Meanwhile, the analysis of the different emotional responses to the colors is also necessary.

For instance, to the intellectuals, the websites relating to education, scientific research and different societies should have implicit colors. So the neutral colors are chosen to convey the stable and reserved feelings so that the whole webpage will be filled with harmonious and cultural atmosphere. According to the characteristic of a website and content of a webpage, symbolic and relative colors should be chosen. In order to achieve the overall harmony in color, the similar colors can serve as a foil of the main colors so that the colorful dazzling effect of the webpage can be avoided. However, the color contrast in some parts is necessary; otherwise, the monotonous colors of a webpage will make browsers bored.

The partial color contrast can be achieved by the use of complementary colors. But whether to adopt a strong contrast or a weak contrast when designing a webpage depends on the colorful atmosphere of the whole page. The entire colorful effect ought to be harmonious, the strong color contrast usually appears in some small parts according to the overall color principle of ‘population coordination, part contrast’ [2]. In a webpage, the colors are used to bring out the atmosphere by contrast. Colors are chose according to the nature of a website, which is used to embody the characteristic of the webpage [4].

For instance, blue or gray is a better choice for the webpage relating to scientific and technological industry while yellow or orange suits the entertainment webpage better to emphasize happiness and vividness. When browsing a webpage, the browser will form his impression and judgment about the page and its color by the emotional responses and cognition ofthe colors, which can be regarded as the result of the process of transmitting emotional information. If properly used, the tone of a color can deepen into the people’s emotional awareness, just like music, producing the similar art and emotional experience. The irrelevant colors in life are harmonized in one webpage by the designers to express a certain subj ect. Take the following colors as examples. Red stands for brightness, enthusiasm and magnificence. It can attract people’s attention easily and point out the keynote. However, if applied excessively, red can have effects, making the users’ eyes uncomfortable and tired. Yellow leaves people such impression as brightness, splendor, gentleness, purity and make people feel hopeful. Blue is associated with sky or ocean. In the modern society, blue, the cold color, symbolizes science. As a result, the webpage related to science and technology uses blue to achieve serious and stable effect. Green is an unique color for it is the mixture of green and blue. Therefore, green can neutralize publicity of yellow and reservation of blue, and counterbalance the warm and chill feelings as well. The characteristics of green, softness, calmness and grace, make people 92 feel peaceful and stable. So green represents freshness, calmness, easiness, peace, softness and youth. While the next color, white symbolizes elegance, harmony and uprightness [5] .

At the same time, happiness and sadness, excitation and calmness, luxury and simplicity, comfort and tiredness, activeness and inactiveness are all emphasized in the design [I] .
